San Miguel de Allende is an historic colonial town in Central Mexico. It has World Heritage status and regularly wins awards as best place to visit or to retire from tourism publications.
It has grown rapidly and is at risk of overtourism. This study, done by Dr. Manning in 2018 was designed to help San Miguel to manage within the limits and opportunities of its society, environment and economy and to sustain the values most central to both tourism and the city residents.
